In this book, Anderson powerfully demonstrates that the Savior personally and visibly directed His Church and taught His Saints by showing Himself or speaking to at least twenty-five early leaders in about twenty separate visions or manifestations attested to in Kirtland. One such person is Karl Ricks Anderson, known to many as “Mr. Kirtland.” Originally, Anderson, a Utah native, left the state with a graduate degree from the University of Utah and went to work in Ohio (he worked in several other states for short periods). Karl Ricks Anderson has lived in Kirtland, Ohio, for more than forty years, and his studies and time there have made him one of the leading authorities on the Kirtland period of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Karl Ricks Anderson is affectionately known throughout the Church as "Mr. Kirtland." His love for and research about the Saints in Kirtland are legendary. He grew up in Utah but has lived near Kirtland for over 50 years.
